Commpetition Background

Exploring the universe is a shared dream of all humanity. Since ancient times, humanity has been filled with boundless imagination and relentless pursuit of the cosmos. With the advent of the 20th century, advances in science and technology enabled humanity to progressively unveil the mysteries of the universe through the use of probes. Gaze at the stars with wonder yet keep your feet firmly on the ground: explore the universe, safeguard our Earthly home, improve the well‑being of humanity, and together build a better world. Coinciding with the completion of China’s space station in 2022, a unique experimental platform was provided for further human exploration of the universe, creating an unprecedented historic opportunity to conduct multidisciplinary, systematic, and long‑term space science research, and promoting comprehensive development in space science and payload technology.

Against this backdrop, under the guidance of the China Manned Space Engineering Office, Beijing Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Astronautical Society of China and several other organizations, jointly launched the inaugural International Space Science and Scientific Payload Competition. The competition aims to provide a platform for universities, research institutes, and technology enterprises to communicate; to gather and cultivate outstanding global talent and projects in space science and payload technology; to promote the sharing of innovative achievements; to encourage young students and teams to collaborate, research, and explore in related fields; and to inspire their enthusiasm and determination to devote themselves to aerospace. Since its inception, the competition has attracted participants from over 30 countries and regions, more than 80 universities, and in excess of 300 teams, with over 2,000 competitors, achieving a positive impact both domestically and internationally.

The competition is committed to making full and effective use of rare space resources, promoting major scientific discoveries and innovative technological breakthroughs in the aerospace field, driving the civilization process of aerospace technology, promoting the sharing mechanism of innovative achievements, and realizing a space culture of co-construction, co-working, sharing and sharing.
